with their owners

We feel this is an essential guide for assessing breed suitability and have included a variety of owners, both advanced and novice.

We breed only when we have enquiries from suitable owners . Our next proposed mating will be Arany's Afra to a DLV stud dog in Germany next year. Enquiries are welcome and help and advice are always available.

Arany's Faust

with Sharon and Jim Patton- Bowes

Sharon wanted a dog of her own as Jim works Brodie their Large Munsterlander and decided on a Longhair . They both suggest he is easier to train as Louis has gained his Silver KC Good Citizen's Award at 9 months of age, following that, The LMC Ntural Ability Test at 10 months of age. Also 2 Best Opposite Sex and Best Puppy in Championship Longhair classes. Both are keenly interested in working and are gaining experience with HPR trainer Tommy Brechney. Louis is definitley one to watch for the future, we spent 2 good days on a grouse moor and were delighted with this young dog's progress.

Arany's Fuchs

for owner Alison Siviter in the USA.

Known as Mulligan, he is Alison's second Longhair and lives in Minneapolis. What she was requiring was biddability and birdiness which is essential for US hunting. " Mully " has gained Prize 2 in a NAVHDA Puppy Test at 8 months of age. Max 4 points were scored in nose, search, desire to work, pointing and water and an article on this achievment is featured in the September 2010 issue of the Shooting Gazette. Alison is a member of Deutsch Langhaar Gruppe North America and the JGHV/US.

Arany's Afra

owned by Maggie and Alan Latham-Sumner

who are now retired and living in Scotland. Having owned a Large Munsterlander they were looking for a replacement so bought Falco. This young dog proved to be too strong for Maggie so was reluctantly brought back to our kennel. A suggestion of an older, trained dog as a replacement has been a huge success. Afra soon settled from being our main picking up and grouse dog to that of a companion to children in a prep school where she gained a following of adoring fans.

Arany's Brise

is owned by Wendy Bailey

an opthalmic practise manager in Fleetwood. Having owned Hungarian Vizsla's who came to us for training, she decided to buy a dog for wildfowling for her son. Determination and good swimming skills were important and a sociable personality who would cope in a busy household with her other dogs. She found Brise a challenge but persevered, training the dog up to field trial standard. She has worked her picking up on the High Fly estate and loves to take Brise on grouse, pictured is her first shot one off a point and the keeper. Wendy is now committed to the breed and owns a second dog, Grief v Heek, who will be the first DLV stud dog in the UK.

Arany Breeding Policy

Our aims and objectives
  1. To produce Longhairs who are adaptable to all types of game shooting in the UK . We do not breed specifically for field trialling but for a gameshooter who requires a companion in the field who is obedient , biddable and is also a faithfull and loyal family member at the end of a working day.
  2. To breed Longhairs who look like Longhairs bred to their standard, are correct in coat and colour and are constructed so they can perform their versatile working role with stamina and pace.
  3. We believe temperament is as important as working ability and have no hesitation in homing our puppies with young families.
  4. We only produce from dogs who have been hip and eye tested and have gained UK field and show awards. .
  5. To sell only to homes who are willing to bring out the best in this breed and only when the right homes are available. We do not sell puppies to first time gundog breed owners or those who cannot provide a Longhair with an interesting, active and secure life.
  6. We provide a contract with sale.
  7. Training, help and advice is always available to our owners. We organise natural aptitude and shot over days too.Danza
